On 25 – 27 August 2023, the Foundation Uxío Novoneyra, rurAllure lead partner in research on literary heritage along the Camino de Santiago, organised the Festival dos Eidos in the Galician Region of Parada do Courel, in north Spain.
Three days entirely dedicated to art in all its forms, including poetry, film screenings, painting exhibitions and conferences. Now in its 8th edition, the Festival dos Eidos praises cultural and artistic heritage of the poet Uxio Novoneyra, proving an opportunity for pilgrims and tourists to immerse themselves in one of the most interesting mountainous areas around the Camino de Santiago.
During these three days the birthplace-museum of the poet in Parada do Courel became a ground for articistic practices, transforming its orchard, corral, fountain, threshing floor, chestnut grove and the near-by school into creative spaces.
The event is an homage to the culture “as a motor of rural dynamism through a multidisciplinary offer with poetry as a conductor”, as stated by the Galician Government that supported the event, which added: “the project presented by the Uxío Novoneyra Foundation fits perfectly with the values promoted by the Xunta through ‘Territorio Cultura’, not only in the sense of to expand quantitatively and qualitatively the cultural offer in rural areas, but also to promote culture as an engine of revitalization, reinforcing the capacities of the sector to achieve a solid fabric beyond the large urban centers.”
This project has been funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme under grant agreement no 101004887.
