INCULTUM, H2020 EU project joins rurAllure

On 18 – 21 May 2023, the Italian town of Fidenza in the Emilia-Romagna region hosted a festival entirely dedicated to the Via Francigena. Over 50 events enlivened the 4 days including exhibitions, walks, guided tours, conferences and school projects. “La bella via dell’Europa” (the beautiful route of Europe) is the festivals’ claim of this year, a reminder of a common thread between past and future that unites the world of paths, culture and spirituality, food and wine and development of the territory.
Rossana Valsecchi is an Italian yoga teacher and event planner, she writes, sings and above all she loves travelling. She made it a living, managing projects scattered throughout Europe and the Americas, and has lived in Michigan and Spain. Like a good pilgrim, she always has her backpack ready for the next journey, she is attracted by the new, by history and by the wonders of nature.
On Wednesday 24 May at 16.00, the University of Bologna (Centre for Advanced Studies on Tourism), will host an online training course (in Italian) to provide basic information for using the digital platform that connects 6 pilgrimage routes, participating in the rurAllure project (Via Francigena, Via Romea Strata, Via Romea Germanica, Camino di Santiago, Camino di Sant’Olav and Camino di Maria). The participation in the training and registration on the platform is free of charge.
In 2021 Cecilia Micciantuono spent her 6-months internship working at the European Association of the Via Francigena ways, focusing on the cultural heritage research and contributing to H2020 project rurAllure.
On Sunday 7 May 2023 a guided hiking event in the format “I love Fancigena”was held along the Via Francigena in Tuscany, inaugurating a new route crossing neighboring villages in the vicinity of the town of Colle Val d’Elsa.
Ingjerd has lived all her life surrounded by Norwegian nature. Having her passion in hiking, she has been walking along the Way to Trondheim for many years. During the summer 2022 on her walk she shared her travel photos with the rurAllure, winning the 1st place of the photo contest for St Olav. We have asked her a few questions to learn more about the route and her adventures.
On 18 April 2023 the Madrid Office of the European Parliament hosted an International Workshop on Cultural Tourism organized by the rurAllure Associated partner SmartCulTour.
