On Saturday 22 October 2022, the rurAllure Associated partner “Amigos do Camiño Xacobeo de San Rosendo e da Rainha Santa” celebrated a new edition of the Xornadas Peregrinas or the Pilgrim Day, raising awareness of the pilgrimage route that crosses the province of Ourense, following ancient Roman roads and the legacy of San Rosendo, linking Ourense with the Via da Prata along the Camino de Santiago.
The non-profit association constituted at the end of 2019 continues to take steps to achieve the Xacobean recognition of this itinerary is currently under study by the Centro Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) Padre Sarmiento by a commission of the Xunta de Galicia.
“Heritage and literature are the hallmark of this land of poets, a region rich in writers who have been capturing the history of these lands with ink on paper,” – commented researcher Oscar Penin.
Forty participants attended this event, which aimed to contribute to the pilot Literary heritage on the ways to Santiago de Compostela and were involved in the rurAllure project filling in a survey about their experience related to the route and its main points of interest.
This project has been funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme under grant agreement no 101004887.
