On 22 July 2022 rurAllure project coordinator, Martín López Nores, from University of Vigo, attended the “Smart and Sustainable Planning for Cities and Regions” conference.
He presented the project’s ideas and advances in relation to the planning of personalized trips through points of interest in the rural surroundings of the European pilgrimage routes. During the poster sessions and the special session titled “New approaches and methods to preserve and enhance long-distance walking routes”, Martín could interact with researchers in the area, getting valuable inputs in relation to community participation, historical investigation, environmentally-responsible behaviours and efforts to develop and consolidate new routes, among other topics. The rurAllure poster received an award for the best design by voting among the conference attendees, suggesting its high relevance for the scientific community and rising visibility of the project.
