The three-day conference organised by the Romanian Way of Mary Association held on 7-9 October 2022 offered a fruitful programme. As part of the official opening on Friday 7 October has signed the ecclesiastical agreement between the Csíksomlyó and Máriapócs shrines. The participants could assist presentations and discourses conducted by the political and religious leaders on the topic of the Way of Mary as a national and international pilgrimage route, which connects different nations and religions.
Réka Vas, the cultural heritage specialist from Hungarian Governmental Agency for IT Development, presented the advancement of the rurAllure project at the conference, and shared its progress, research and development plans for 2022 and 2023.
After the distribution of certificates recognizing the work of the volunteers, the first day of the conference ended with an opening of the Pilgrimage-Sign-Picture-Road exhibition of the Way of Mary Public Benefit Association from Hungary. Photos taken by pilgrims and volunteers at the exhibition can be viewed accompanied by short reflections.
Saturday 8 October was focused on sharing experiences, regional reports and plans. At the same time, church and political representatives and representatives from different NGOs discussed topics related to the Way of Mary. It was followed by local coordinators’ reporting on the developments of their routes and on their annual activities this year. The 12th Way of Mary Conference ended after the Sunday morning mass with a guided pilgrimage on the section of the Way of Mary between Csíkmadaras and Csíkrákos.
The conference was hosted by the Jakab Antal House, the event was followed online by Via Transilvanica, El Camino, opera singer Levente Molnár, Dutch pilgrims, representatives of Suceava county, and local contributors.
