The 2nd rurAllure regional meeting among the stakeholders of the Way of Mary took place in Hungarian Abasár on 12 May 2022 and was mainly focused on partnership building.
The exceptional location of the place, rich in culture and traditions, underlined the project objectives of enhancing the rural heritage in the vicinity of the Way of Mary.
The area is famous for its magnificent scenery of the vineyards on Sár Hill, archaeological excavations of a medieval monastery probably containing the tomb of the Hungarian King Samuel Aba from the 11th century, wine-cellars and warm hospitability of the local community.
The meeting brought together mayors, representatives of local authorities and parishes located along and in the vicinity of the Way of Mary and a representative of the Bükk National Park, interested to work together on the rurAllure project.
The KIFÜ rurAllure Team presented the project and its benefits, while the Way of Mary Association (MUTKE) talked about broader cooperation possibilities for fostering pilgrimage in the Mátra region. The roundtable discussion provided several useful inputs on the technological platform and general cooperation.
This project has been funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme under grant agreement no 101004887.
